Sparks and Magic Smoke

What is pyrography?

Pyrography, or woodburning, is the art of drawing with heat. I use wood as my canvas and heat as my paint. All of my art is sealed with a UV resistant coating to help prevent fading.

Is this laser printing?

No, each piece is hand burned by me. I use computer software to create patterns and I use pencil to transfer the pattern. After that, it's all done by my hand! Check out the photos below to see progression of this work-in-progress.

Can you do my photo?

I would love to do a project with your photo on it!

There are a couple things to think about when choosing a photo. To get the best woodburning, choose a close-up shot of the subject. The closer the photo and the larger the file size of the photo, the better! The more details I can see in your photo, the more details I can incorporate in the burning. Great lighting is a huge help. The best photos have a nice mix of light on the face and distinct shadows.

And if you're not sure, email me and I can help you choose the perfect photo to memorialize in wood.

Have a different idea?

I would love to create your design and burn it for you. Email me to get started!
